Billings & Payments

Bellingham Women's Health utilizes AthenaHealth for billing services. These are the steps for the billing process:

Patient provides a credit card on file, stored securely by Anthna Billing.

The practice, via Athena Billing, sends a claim to the patient's insurance.

The patient's insurance provides to the patient and to the Athena billing service an EOB (Explanation of Benefits), clarifying what, if any amount is the "patient's responsibility" to pay, either as the patients co-payment amount or as an amount to pay towards their deductible.

Athena Billing sends notification to the patient of the amount of the "patient responsibility" that will be charged to the patient's card on file. Typically this notice is sent five days prior to the charge date.

Additionally, patients may view or pay their bills via the patient portal.
